VNC Bearing is looking to add a new position to its local engineering team to parallel our continued growth. In the position, the engineer will be expected to lead engineering activities and day to day operations on a variety of ongoing projects with numerous customers. The engineer’s responsibilities will include application engineering, quality assurance, PPAP submission, failure analysis, and engineering drawing maintenance. In this position the engineer will be expected to operate with minimal supervision and embody VNC Bearing’s core values.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Application engineering
    • Assist customers with specific application engineering needs.
    • Collaborate with customers and manufacturing in order to develop designs.
    • Reverse engineer existing component samples when necessary.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Lead and assist with the Corrective Action Process.
    • Work with the entire team to implement permanent corrective actions.
    • Maintain Inspection Lab equipment, calibration log, and documentation for ISO.
    • Assist with supervising overall manufacturing quality.
  • PPAP
    • Produce and submit PPAP documentation for new and existing products.
    • Perform first article inspections.
  • Failure analysis
    • Perform failure analysis inspections on bearings.
    • Write detailed inspection reports for customers.
  • Engineering Drawing Maintenance
    • Create and edit engineering drawings utilizing Autodesk Inventor 2012.
    • Manage print revisions and overall drawing control.
    • Review customer drawings and identify critical requirements.
  • Customer Focus
    • Provide technical expertise to assist with customer inquiries and quotes.
    • Visit customer’s to offer onsite assistance when applicable.
    • Travel will consist of < 10%

Required Experience:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or another related field.
  • Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating engineering drawings with CAD software.
  • Good technical writing skills.
  • Excellent documentation and organization skills.

Additional desired skills:

  • Bearing failure analysis experience.
  • ISO Certification experience.
  • VBA programming experience.
